This September, as a pre-assessment, each student in Grade 5 was asked to do their best observational drawing in 10 minutes. They had to observe a of a pot of art supplies and draw it as accurately as possible. Students reflected on their work and set goals for how they would like to improve in drawing this year.
You will find some of the drawings and reflections below: Later this year, we will repeat the same timed drawing to see how Grade 5 artists have deveoped their skills.
Besides the obvious benefit of learning how to draw, what are some other benefits of observational drawing with children?
